M y name is Jonathan Gordon. I built this website for two reasons: I want to have a vehicle by which to showcase the continuing progress of my web development skills; I want to have the ability to communicate with friends and family all around the globe at any time, in any time zone using text, images and sounds. What better media then the Internet?

Yanti and I met over the internet. We corresponded casually for about two years. I wound up deciding to visit her in her native home of Indonesia. She was the managing director of Jayanti Logistics, a freight-forwarding company in Jakarta. I stayed there for about a month. A year later, I visited again, and we were married. We have since been married for over four years.

I currently work for an environmental services company as a project manager. What's an "environmental services company" ? Well, the long and short of it is this: businesses in industries ranging from biotechnology to high-tech and almost everyone in between use hazardous materials, and hazardous materials become wastes after their usefulness has been exhausted; my job is to assist with the proper and safe management of these materials. I have been in this industry for ten years.

I cannot say why I began studying web development. It has been a largely distant curiosity for at least four years. A former coworker had shown me the basic tags used in HTML, but for one reason or another it just did not really interest me quite enough. One day, however, I woke up with a "bean in my bonnet" and made learning it a higher priority. So I took a beginning web development course at a nearby junior college. I am scheduled to attend a couple of more advanced courses soon.
